Witchfire Classes Guide

Published on:

This Witchfire Classes guide will dive into each available class and break down their unique traits, strengths and weaknesses. There’s a lot of games like this that I’ve covered by now so I know the importance of picking a class that either takes advantage of the game’s meta or fits your playing style. Witchfire is a new release on Steam but has gained a very positive reception from players who enjoy the roguelite shooter.

Witchfire Classes Tips

Butcher

As the name may suggest the butcher is an offensive-focused class. It starts a run with high Vitality, Healing, and Endurance which are the three main attacking stats so you’ll have a good base to work off.

Starting with the Midas and Bittersweet Nightshade, the latter which releases shockwaves if you take damage when low on health to help you keep powering through enemies.

Hunter

Hunter appears to be one of the better classes off-bat. It can attack but isn’t as attack-focused as the butcher. Healing and Endurance stats start high which are good for getting through waves while it has a solid Metanoia stat which increases your exp intake for killing enemies.

The Auto Rifle it starts with allows bullets to ricochet between enemies which is a very useful ability while the Painted Tooth relic lets you ignite enemies with critical hits.

Slayer

Slayer mainly focuses on ranged spells and less on close range fighting. It starts with high Witchery (obviously), Endurance and Luck which could be better, the Luck stat is a take it or leave it one for me so you’d end up having to focus on increasing Witchery to make the most of this class.

The Cricket gun and Lightning Bolt gear are decent starters but don’t maximise the abilities of this class.

Shadow

The Shadow is a long-range stealthier class that is an interesting addition. The Witchery and Metanoia stats starting out high is a good buff and can help you grow and improve Witchery quickly.

The All-Seeing Eye is an excellent starter dealing out critical damage to enemies within the eye while Shockwave can be used to get out of any close encounters that would otherwise leave you prone to attack.

Saint

The Saint is a dice roll for your playthrough, it is almost entirely reliant on the Luck stat which means you yourself are relying on good drops to make a run worthwhile.

To make up for the weird stats the Saint does start with 4 pieces of gear as opposed to 2, the two attacking gear pieces are useful with one homing in on enemies while the defensive ones allow you to make an ice sphere and inflict decay on anyone who damages you. These are very useful but again a run as the Saint will be reliant on drops and luck.

Penitent

A built-in hard mode the Penitent is only good at gaining experience with Metanoia being the only standout attribute. This means you’re basically making it up as you go along as your eleven increases, which will happen faster due to the high Metanoia admittedly.

This class also gets just one piece of starting gear which rewards perfectly aimed shots.
