Sony Reschedule “Future of Gaming” Event

Published on:

Sony took the admirable decision to postpone its “Future of Gaming” event following the Black Lives Matter protests. The company felt that it did not want to take any focus away from the issues.

However, Sony has announced that the event will take place on the 11th June, 1:00 pm Pacific time (9:00 pm BST). The event was supposed to take place on 4th June so will take place a week later.

What to Expect from Sony’s “Future of Gaming”

The focus of this event is for Sony to showcase the video titles that will release alongside the next-generation console. Many will be hoping that Sony offers a wide range of title on release. This is important so as to entice as many as possible to make the switch over.

Inverse has reported that we are most likely to see a new Ratchet & Clank Game. Horizon: Zero Dawn 2 may also make an appliance after it has been all but confirmed by Sony.

In terms of third-party titles, Assassin’s Creed Vallhalla is tied up in a marketing deal with XBOX so that will not appear. It is possible other Ubisoft titles may be shown but this is still very much up in the air.

Rumours also suggest that we may be given a glimpse of the PS5 but this is unconfirmed. The event is likely though to show off the new Duel Sense controller which is launching with the console.

DO NOT EXPECT a release date or a price to be announced at the event. With Covid-19 still raging across the world, Sony is unlikely to commit to a date given the potential problems this could cause.

How to Watch the Event

IGN’s YouTube account will be live streaming the event so all can access the breaking news as it happens. Many other streaming services will also be streaming the even so you should no be short of options.
